PRIVACY POLICY

Last Updated January 14, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Michaud Business Law (MBL) handles your personal information when you use our websites and blogs, view or interact with MBL's social media accounts, or submit information to us using a contact form.

This Privacy Policy does not cover information that is exchanged as part of an attorney-client relationship. Attorney-client relationships are governed by the terms of the engagement contract and the relevant laws and rules of professional responsibility that apply to the legal profession. For more information about the website and attorney-client relationships, see the Disclaimer.

Use of this website, or interacting with this website (including by filling out the secure contact form), does not create an attorney-client relationship, nor is it an invitation from MBL to enter into an attorney-client relationship. Please do not send MBL any sensitive or confidential information unless and until an attorney-client relationship and its scope has been agreed upon in writing. You may browse our website or other public online content without providing any personal information.

We do, however, collect information about how our website is used through web traffic analytics provided by our website hosts and domain providers. They may use cookies to collect website usage information. The information transmitted to us does not contain personal information.

MBL collects personal information you choose to provide us through the website, contact form, social media accounts, or elsewhere. For example, you may provide us with personal information when you fill out a contact form, ask to be on our mailing list, request information or publications, or register for an event we are hosting. The personal information may include name, address, telephone numbers, and other sensitive information.

HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We may use personal information to respond to your inquiries about legal services, to provide you with news about legal developments or events, to conduct other marketing activities, or for any other lawful purpose. These activities may involve emails, other online content, and invitations to events.  You may opt out of receiving marketing communications at any time. Website usage information is used to help us manage and administer our website, improve the content and reach of our website and online presence generally, and customize and improve the user experience.

SHARING YOUR INFORMATION

MBL does not sell or rent personal information to third parties. Email addresses may be shared with service partners providing e-mail marketing services to us, or with information services providers maintaining our website, blogs, client portal, social media accounts, and computer systems.

CONSENT TO CONTACT METHODS

Our clients or potential clients may contact an attorney or the law firm directly via telephone, email, messaging application, social media inbox, or SMS. Initiating a conversational contact via any channel directly to one of our attorneys or the law firm in general constitutes consent to receive responses through that channel and acknowledges there may be inherent security risks to any particular method of communication that are beyond the control or responsibility of MBL.

THIRD PARTY WEBSITES

Our website, blog, or online accounts may contain links to other sites that may have different information practices. Visitors should consult the other sites' privacy notices as we have no control over information that is submitted to, or collected by, these third parties.

PROTECTING YOUR INFORMATION

To protect your personal information, MBL maintains appropriate safeguards to avoid unauthorized disclosure.  No systems or electronic data transmissions are completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee that these measures will prevent a third party from unlawfully accessing this information.  Our website is operated in the United States, so information submitted to our website will be transmitted to us in the United States.  If you are located outside the United States, please note that in using the website you may be transferring your personal information to a country that does not have the same data protection laws as your home country.

MANAGING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

Under certain data protection laws and regulations, you may have rights such as the right to: (1) request information from us regarding the categories of personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources of such information, the purpose for which it was collected, and the categories of third parties to whom we disclose it; (2) request a copy of personal information collected about you; and (3) request that such personal information be corrected or deleted.

You can contact us about such requests using the contact information below. The rights under data protection laws and regulations have limits, however, and we may be entitled to decline the request or retain information under certain circumstances. You will not face discrimination for requesting your personal information, changing your personal information, or asking the firm to delete your personal information.

PROTECTING THE PRIVACY OF CHILDREN

MBL's website is not directed to children. If you are under the age of 16, please do not provide any personal information about yourself to us. If you have reason to believe that a child under the age of 16 has provided us with personal information, please contact us with sufficient detail to enable us to delete that information.

RETENTION OF INFORMATION

We keep personal information until no longer reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or other permitted use.

CONSENT AND UPDATES

Your use of our website, contact forms, social media content, or other online presence or content means that you accept this Privacy Policy. Changes to this Privacy Policy will be posted here and will be effective immediately without further notice.
